Our Mission Towards Diversity and Inclusion
As made evident in this 2014 study by three NC State students, organizations can sometimes have an ‘Illusion of Inclusion’ in how well they are championing diversity. That is, simply having a diverse makeup of employees does not equate to having a truly inclusive work environment. For us to improve, we must evaluate our entire infrastructure: from hiring and performance review processes, to sales tactics, operational procedures and beyond. Our goal should be to transcend the baseline expectations of diversity and inclusion to achieve what’s most important: an equitable workplace free of biased behaviors and practices.
At NC State, we are making a commitment to take these steps to improve our organization, as well as extend the knowledge of our subject matter experts to our valued partners and community. We invite you to also share your stories and experiences so we and others can benefit from our collective efforts. We hope you will benefit from, engage with and contribute to our endeavor of recognizing and removing bias — an important opportunity to Think and Do!
